YOGA IS FOR EVERYONE. FOR ALL BODY TYPES, ABILITIES AND BACKGROUNDS. ALL SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS, AGES, DISABILITIES AND ETHNIC GROUPS ARE WELCOME.
"What's the big deal?" Those were my words exactly when I was suggested to do yoga after a car accident when I was 16. The back pain started well before then but this accident didn't make my inflamed back feel any better moving forward. It wasn't until I was 22 when a friend convinced me to try a gym yoga class. The class started with breath work- what?! I'm sitting still and just breathing? This sounded like the craziest thing in the world. I was at the time a full time student, part time worker and going through a terrible divorce. I never stopped moving enough to feel what was going on. Just sitting and breathing I noticed my body relaaaaaaax. The teacher led us through a series of moves I've never done before. I had no idea what foreign language they were using or what a Chatarunga was. But my body felt great, I was glistening in sweat and blissed out at the end with Savasana, Corpse Pose, left to lay down for minutes, alone, in silence, with myself. I could hear the monkey mind chatter, exploding in my ear. I noticed it. The experience hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought it was just my back that was malfunctioning but I realized it was my whole nervous system. My inner voice was not serving me. Yoga is was helped me tune into the fact that I experience stress that overwhelms me but I have a tool- my breath and these movements- that can guide me back to a peaceful state. Cultivating this body awareness years later, that stronger inner voice led me to find an autoimmune disease within my body. Something inside me said, "Take a look at yourself. Your throat chakra is blocked." And low and behold... it was true. I was diagnosed with lifelong Graves' disease- seen in those with hyperthyroidism. My intuition changed in all areas of my life.
This is what led me to you. Someone shared this gift of yoga and a yogic lifestyle to me and it changed me. It saved me. And I want to offer it to you! This world is absolutely scary and insane but sometimes can be so beautiful. Everyone seems to be running in circles, the direction for life's path is not very clear, and we are bombarded with negativity constantly. Whether we like to admit it publicly or not, I know first hand that we all get overwhelmed, scared, sad, anxious and yoga can be a tool to combat that. Just as equally, yoga can be a form of celebration when things are going just swell too. Maintaining the balance will come in handy on a rainy day. Power - Intermediate
Ready to pump it up? This style class is Vinyasa based with a peak pose built in. Using our own power to generate heat, we become flexible and strong in body and mind. It's best for intermediate or advanced yogis because we will be movvvving continuously. But hey! Don't let anything stop you. If you're in the mood for a sweaty mindful workout, this is the class for you!
Yin - All Levels
Gentle and sweet, this class is designed to use deep, long stretching to release the connective tissue that normally is skipped in a traditional Vinyasa class. Perfect to ground you back to Mother Earth, we'll stay close to the floor making it ideal for those who need a calm yet challenging experience to gain flexibility.
Restore - All Levels
The name says it all. Come to this practice to restore your whole essence. It's totally passive, meaning you just come and relax! Moving through few yet articulate poses that cleanse and replenish your body with no muscle engagement, this can be an amazing experience for beginners, those with injuries or that crazy monkey chatter mind. Those monkey are always talking, aren't they?
Flow - Levels 1-3 Available
Here is our Vinyasa based class with the focus on fluid, balancing movements. Each class explores a different theme to use poses that transition into one another with the breath. If you're energy or ability level is somewhere "in the middle" try out this harmonizing sequence between body and mind.
Peak - Levels 1-3 Available
Similar to the Flow and Power classes, the peak class will use engaging postures and rhythmic movements to build up to a particular peak pose. Acting as a mini-workshop, feel free to ask questions and get some one-on-one assistance getting closer to the full expression.
Meditation - All Levels
Sometimes the day calls for stillness, turning inward via deep breathing as opposed to bodily movement to connect with our inner selves. Explore the breath during a guided meditation and mental exercises to reset the mind. Use the skills you observe in class in your daily life to stay calm, peaceful and light, even in challenging situations.
Beginner Breakdown - All Levels
Yoga IS for everyone. But it can feel like it's not for us when we see someone in LuLuLemon pants doing the splits. The Beginner Breakdown class is all about dissecting the most commonly used postures you'll likely see throughout your yoga journey. Find what variations work for your body and what true alignment looks like for you. After this class you'll be comfortable to jump into any yoga studio and bust out that Down Dog like a pro.
Private classes are the best way to get the one-on-one attention and adjustments beneficial when learning about your body and mind's current state. Here is where we discuss your spiritual needs, your current habits and goals as well as get you used to the safe body alignment for your yoga postures. Privates are suggested for those who are just beginning, are easily overly stimulated/self-conscious in group settings or those on a time crunch. Privates are perfect for progress checks and having an accountability partner for whatever goals or concerns you may be experiencing. Private class sizes can range from 1 person to a large group setting. Available for home, corporate or studio settings. Kids Yoga Classes
Kids' yoga is truly magical! There's nothing more meaningful than seeing the next generation learning how to be mindful and tap into their inner selves. Yoga is the ultimate tool to accomplish this with our little ones. Book a class as a special treat, for a birthday party or as an ongoing healing activity for your kids and their friends!
Workshops may include crystal work, bead work, food, journaling, meditating, artwork, sacred stitching, oil mixing, palo santo wrapping...etc. depending on class size and age range. Yoga is so much more than just the asana (poses) themselves. Yoga is a lifestyle that is based off the 8 limbs or sections of yoga. Including activities to round out the practice, we ensure we are balanced and focused on what matters like non-violence, truthfulness and purification. I love to send home yogis with a parting gift so the activities are centered around being able to take something tangible home. This makes the workshop style experience classes or group sessions extra fun- particularly with a party favor! Here are some examples below.
Sessions are typically 1 hr. for a yoga asana practice. Workshop style experiences are about 2 hrs. These include an activity and more time breaking down the topics or movements. Customizable time slots are available.
Sessions can be done indoors, outdoors or in studio settings with space and weather permitting.
There is no class size minimum or maximum, only space permitting.
Class style will be based on your needs if requested beforehand for privates and custom workshops.
Adjustments for unique needs are more than welcome. Notifying me in advance helps me prepare the class for unique needs. Examples of unique needs include sound sensitivity, wheelchair use, restrictive mobility physically for any reason, injury, religious practices, the very young or the elderly...etc. Let me modify the class to suit you (or your group) best.
Availability is based off a first come first serve basis. Contact me as early as possible to save your spot!
All sales are final. Unused paid sessions can be used as a credit for a future class or product.
